A video has gone viral in which a Black man is confronted and harassed for wearing a MAGA by a white guy at a KC Starbucks.
However, after investigating the video, we found that it came from a YouTuber who makes videos of himself pranking others.
YouTuber Funny Boy uploaded the video “Trump Supporter Get Confronted!” on Oct 24, 2018, and since then it has been doing the rounds on social media with users calling for the arrest of the guy who is seen occosting the black man wearing the MAGA hat.
As it turns out, this video is a set-up.
As you can see here in this video, the same man wearing the MAGA hat is seen in this video wearing the same outfit found on his YouTube channel:
Here’s his Twitter account:
Looking into Funny Marco further, we found an article titled “I don’t wanna work here no more’: Popeyes prank is the work of KC viral video maker”
The article published by kansascity.com details a prank that Marco Summers (@funny_ass_marco) where Cedric Workuff walked into a Popeyes in south Kansas City and sang about quitting his job (except he doesn’t work there). The prank was filmed by video producer Marco Summers, who also wrote the song.
The article reports that “Summers’ raw, unedited joke videos have been shared by the likes of Snoop Dogg, T.I., 50 Cent and Justin Bieber.”
Summers says: “I write up real-life situations and turn them into comedy,” he says. “Nobody gets hurt — it’s just something to giggle at.”
The pinned tweet on his Twitter account says “If you wanna know information about the video DM me.” But as you can see from the screenshot above he has turned his DM off and isn’t responding to any requests under the post.
While it’s all fun and games for YouTube pranksters to pull stunts like this for views and followers, sadly attacks on Trump supporters for wearing MAGA hats actually happen.
However, to be fair, it’s not known at this stage what the intent behind this particular video was set out to achieve.
UPDATE: @Funny_Marco confirms the video is a set-up tweeting out: “this video is fake, leave this man alone”
