Police pursued and apprehended a driver who stole an ambulance from a downtown Los Angeles hospital early Tuesday.
A report from FOX 11 Los Angeles states a paramedic crew was transferring a seriously ill patient to the nursing staff inside the downtown LA California Hospital Medical Center around 12:31 a.m. when the unoccupied ambulance in the parking lot next to the emergency room was taken.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said LA police located the ambulance traveling on the freeway toward the San Gabriel Valley around 1 a.m. The California Highway Patrol then took over the pursuit.
The female driver, who did not activate the ambulance’s emergency lights and siren, led officers on a slow-speed chase.
No personnel or patients were harmed, the Fire Department said
Sky5 began following the ambulance, and as seen in the video below, the suspect surrendered and was apprehended.
