According to a New York Times report released on Saturday, members of the McCain family ‘inner circle’ have informed White House officials that John McCain has said that he does not want President Trump to attend his funeral to be held in Washington’s National Cathedral. But Mike Pence is allowed to.
McCain was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer mid-2017 and reports indicate that his health is deteriorating for the worst.
According to reports, John McCain had recently been admitted to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix for surgery to treat an “intestinal infection related to diverticulitis,” Diverticulitis is inflammation or infection of small pouches called diverticula that develop along the walls of the intestines. The formation of the pouches themselves is a relatively benign condition known as diverticulosis.

“Thank you all again for your prayers, patience, understanding and compassion during this time,” she tweeted. “It means the world to me and my entire family.”
The Times reported Saturday, John McCain is “still in the fight,” and close friends from the political world have been in to visit with him in recent weeks, “telling him they love him, how much he has meant to them — and together they are taking care of unfinished business.”
The report also says that some of John McCain’s associates have started to quietly put out the word that they want a “McCain person” eventually appointed to fill his Senate seat, a roster that includes his wife, Cindy.
