First Lady of the United States Melania Trump is currently recovering from an “embolization procedure’ at Walter Reed Army Hospital on Monday morning.
An embolization is a minimally invasive treatment that blocks one or more blood vessels or abnormal vascular channels.
According to CNN, Melania Trump underwent the kidney surgery to address a “benign” condition, and the surgery went well, with no complications. Mrs Trump is expected to remain in the hospital for about a week as she recovers from the procedure.
President Donald Trump was at the White House Monday morning while waiting for his wife who was in surgery.
Doctors at Walter Reed are reported to be pleased with the outcome of the procedure and expect First Lady Melania Trump to make a full recovery. The First Lady’s communications office released a media statement later this morning after Mrs. Trump was out of surgery.
“This morning, first lady Melania Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition. The procedure was successful, and there were no complications,” the First Lady’s office said. “Mrs. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week. The first lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere.”
