Police have made an arrest in connection with a video that went viral in which a 16-year-old’s Make America Great Again hat was torn off and stolen by a stranger at a San Antonio Whataburger.
The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Kino Jimenez. He was located by robbery task force detectives in Universal City, police said, and taken into custody on a warrant for theft of person.
16-year-old Hunter Richard was eating with two friends at Whataburger in Nacogdoches Road and Thousand Oaks around 2 a.m. In the video that made the rounds on the internet starting Wednesday, The video starts halfway through an altercation in which Jimenez throws a drink in Richard’s face and is seen holding a “MAGA” hat that belonged to the 16-year-old.
Hunter Richard said the man approached his table, tore off his hat and asked why Richard was wearing it. When Richard responded that he supported President Donald Trump the man threw a drink in Richard’s face and walked away with the hat.
“You ain’t supportin’ s–t, n—-,” the man said while leaving.
Richard has since said he would like to have a conversation with the man and “come to some sort of agreement or neutral ground.”
Rumble, a local bar, said in a statement that the man was a part-time employee there and has been fired.
Bail has not yet been set for Jimenez, according to the county magistrate’s office.
