A former Georgia congressional candidate was arrested this week and charged with the murder of her former campaign staffer.
Kellie Lynn Collins ran as a Democrat in Georgia’s 10th congressional district, Aiken County is located near the Georgia border.
She has been charged with murder after police officers found 41-year-old Curt Cain fatally shot inside of his Aiken County home in South Carolina on Tuesday, the Augusta Chronicle has reported.
Curt Cain served as Kellie Collins’ treasurer during her campaign run, according to election filings. She eventually dropped out of the race just before the Democratic primary.

“I didn’t think anything like this could happen,” Clayborn Thigpen, her former campaign manager, told the Chronicle, adding that he hadn’t spoken to both of them in a few months.
Captain Eric Abdullah told The State newspaper that the pair had been living together, and it’s quite possible they had married.
Collins is currently being held at the McDuffie County Jail and is being charged with murder and grand larceny.
