A 55-year-old woman came forward to the police in July and said that former Obama Admin official that was the head of CDC Dr. Frieden squeezed her buttocks against her will nine months earlier.
According to police, Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, who ran the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for eight years under President Barack Obama, was arrested on Friday morning in Brooklyn and charged with groping a woman in his apartment in October 2017.
At 10 a.m. on Friday, Dr. Frieden surrendered to the police at the 77th Precinct in Crown Heights.
The 55-year-old woman who said she had been groped by Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, is an artist in New York City and had been a vocal #MeToo activist before the Oct. 20 incident.
The woman is well known for creating artwork related to the #MeToo movement. In April, she wrote an article describing her transition from activist to victim and had spoken about the events of that night without naming her abuser at the time she wrote the article.
The victim said Dr. Frieden had groped her while their spouses were not looking, and apologized later, telling her that he did it because of personal problems he was having. She said that after worrying for some time about hurting someone by coming forward, she decided to write her article.
The identity of the woman has not been release and she hasn’t released any further comment as yet, according to the New York Times report.
