A self-styled ‘Voodoo prophet’ raped a 13-year-old child 10 times outside her own school, while his accomplice raped her 60 times.
Late last week, a 40-year-old pastor from Hollywood, Ricardo Strachan, was arrested and 32-year-old Avo Avard Roker was arrested Saturday on felony charges of sexual battery.
Prosecutors said the sexual abuse occurred more than five dozen times starting in 2016.
Roker introduced Strachan to the young girl and told her not to tell anyone or Strachan would “molested her and her mother,” according to police documents. The 13-year-old victim said Strachan also told her his wife was a police officer and had a gun.
Ricardo Strachan raped and molested the girl in his car while it was parked outside Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Strachan, 40, and is said to have targeted his victim over 36 times, raping her 10 times between January and December 2016, according to the Sun Sentinel.
Strachan is further accused of frightening the youngster into silence by making her steal clothes and trinkets from her family so that he could use them in voodoo rituals.
32-year-old Avo Avard Roker is said to have raped the child at least 60 times between December 2015 and December 2016.
A cousin of the young girl was the first person the 13-year-old victim confided in, the report said. The cousin told police she knew the girl had been stealing clothing and other personal items from home. The cousin also noted changes in the girl’s eating and sleeping habits and overall attitude.
A medical exam conducted on the young girl showed evidence of sexual abuse, with the girl’s school records showing lateness and absences which matched up to the times the 13-year-old said the rapes occurred.
Strachan is described online as president of Prophetic Worshipers International Church in Lauderhill. The church has distanced himself from him, and told the Sun Sentinel he left a year ago.
Strachan’s lawyer Lawrence Hashish added that he ‘completely denied’ a felony child abuse charge, adding: ‘He might be a prophet, I don’t know. ‘We’re looking forward to our day in court to challenge these allegations.
Both men were booked into the Broward Main Jail. Roker is being held without bond, while Strachan’s bond is set at $100,000.
