37-year-old Roli Lopez-Sanchez, of Plano, Texas, was found guilty by a jury this week and sentenced to 60 years behind bars, according to a statement by the Collin County prosecutors. He won’t be eligible for parole.
Dallas Morning News reports that medical workers notified the authorities in February 2018 after a pregnant 11-year-old came to their office and said Lopez-Sanchez had raped her.
“This innocent child showed remarkable courage by naming the monster who assaulted her; he will never harm another child again,” Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis told the local news outlet.
The young girl and her siblings have been removed from their home by Child Protective Services after an investigation.
NBC4 reported that the young victim, by then 12, gave birth over the summer. A DNA sample confirmed Roli Lopez-Sanchez was the newborn’s father.
Lopez-Sanchez has been in custody since his February 2018 arrest. The Associated Press reported that he also faces a federal immigration detainer.
Jail records obtained by Breitbart News revealed that immigration officers from Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations placed an immigration detainer on the migrant for being in the U.S. illegally.
