As more government services shut down due to coronavirus fears, several states and counties say they are unable to process applications for “permits” and “licenses” to carry.
The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office is suspending the acceptance of concealed carry applications/renewals until April 10 out of an “abundance of caution.”
They are suspending all fingerprinting for job applications, security clearances, and personnel records.
Belmont County in Ohio is suspending concealed carried appointments and background check appointments until further notice. “Sex offender registration will continue with additional safety protocols in place.” They are hoping to re-open the CHL process next week.
Jefferson County in Colorado has suspended all CHP appointments indefinitely as of Monday. They released a statement saying: ALERT: Effective at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020, the Sheriff’s Office is closing all our public lobbies and suspending certain public services for the remainder of this week to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. All CONCEALED HANDGUN PERMITS applications are currently suspended.
Yates County has suspended all pistol permits until further notice. “DUE TO THE CONCERNS AND UNCERTAINTY SURROUNDING COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS), ALL PISTOL PERMIT SERVICES WILL BE SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.”
In Oregon, the entire system is shut down and CHL’s cannot be issued.
West Virginia County has put concealed carry applications on hold.
According to Bearing Arms, this measure is not a cancellation of the conceal carry permits themselves. It is simply the appointments for new carriers or those renewing their permits. So if you currently have a valid permit, then you will have no problem.
