Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in an interview this week called for everyone to boycott going back to work once the coronavirus pandemic is over to demand better treatment at their place of employment. Despite millions wanting to get back to work.
The Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district said in an interview with VICE this week:
“Only in America, does the president, when the president tweets about liberation, does he mean ‘go back to work,’” the New York Democrat said during an interview on the first installment of Vice TV’s political talk show Seat at the Table. “When we have this discussion about ‘going back’ or ‘reopening’ — I think a lot of people should just say, ‘No, we’re not going back to that. We’re not going back to working 70-hour weeks just so that we can put food on the table and not even feel any sort of semblance of security in our lives.’”

Ocasio-Cortez’ statement comes as over 22 million who have filed for unemployment in the U.S. desperately want to get back into the workforce, and as the Trump administration works with state governors to slowly reopen the country.
