Elmer Fudd is no longer allowed to have a gun.
Warner Bros has commissioned a new Looney Tuned animation series but will not have any firearms in response to US gun violence, the company said.
The showrunners said that in response to US gun violence, they will not include firearms in Elmer Fudd’s arsenal from now on.
Peter Browngardt, the series executive producer and showrunner, told The New York Times, “We’re not doing guns.”
“But we can do cartoony violence — TNT, the Acme stuff. All that was kind of grandfathered in,” Browngardt added.
Elmer Fudd is regularly foiled trying to hunt Bugs Bunny on the show. Now, in the new series, he’ll carry a scythe, an axe or various other items.
Sticks of dynamite, anvils on the head, booby traps, and other items will still feature in the series. Just not guns, because those are really dangerous.
What’s next? Marvin the Martian’s Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator?
and Yosemite Sam’s pistols?
Oh well, there’s always the classics:
