Roger Stone is being accused of allegedly appearing to mutter: “I don’t really feel like arguing with this Negro,” on “The Mo’Kelly Show” on KFI AM 640 in Los Angeles. Stone was on the radio program to discuss his prison conviction and why he was pardoned by President Donald Trump.
During the live interview on The Mo’Kelly Show – hosted by Morris W. O’Kelly, known as Mo’Kelly – the line appeared to drop out and after a few seconds a voice can be heard saying “I don’t feel like arguing with this negro [sic].”
When O’Kelly asked Stone if he had called him that, Roger denied saying it: “I did not, you’re out of your mind,” Mr. Stone told the host.
The interview has gone viral after Mo’Kelly shared the clip and the New York Times first published their article titled: “Roger Stone Uses Racial Slur on Radio Show.” After that, every mainstream media ran the story.
In a statement, Roger Stone defended himself by saying that anyone familiar with him “knows I despise racism!”
“Mr. O’Kelly needs a good peroxide cleaning of the wax in his ears because at no time did I call him a negro,” Stone said, “That said, Mr. O’Kelly needs to spend a little more time studying black history and institutions. The word negro is far from a slur.”
Stone cited the United Negro College Fund and the historical use of the word.
At one time, “Negro” was common in the American vernacular to describe African Americans. By the late 1960s, however, the word was scorned by activists in favor of such descriptors as “Black.”
These days, and especially in 2020 where everything is racist, the antiquated word is widely viewed as derogatory in most uses.
In the statement, Roger Stone noted that some of the program’s audio was garbled and said that there was cross-talk from another radio show and that his sound was cut off.
Strangely, outlets aren’t including the audio in their articles, some do provide links but it’s always baffling why they don’t just add the audio or video for the public to judge for themselves.
Nonetheless, here is the audio:
