Clashes between pro-Palestine and pro-Israel protesters in New York City continued on Wednesday as the Israeli-Gaza truce was discussed. During which an explosive device was set off.
Footage shared across social media shows what appears to be some sort of device going off in New York’s Diamond District. Video of the explosion shows people screaming and fleeing in fear after the blast.
The New York Police Department confirmed that it was two commercial fireworks that were thrown from a car and one person suffered minor burns. The NYPD’s Arson Investigation Squad is probing the incident.
Videos posted by independent journalist Leeroy Johnson show multiple fights breaking out in the middle of Times Square as police try to dispel the scuffles. An NYPD spokesperson said multiple arrests were made during the protests.
