The Los Angeles Police Department confirms in a Tweet that Bomb Squad officers were ‘seizing over 5,000 pounds of illegal fireworks in the area of 27th Street and San Pedro’ when some of the fireworks exploded while being stored in a trailer
At least nine people were injured in the explosion, Fox 11 Los Angeles reports. Police say it is an ongoing situation and the area will be impacted for hours “due to evacuations.”
