A married couple from Michigan who were fully vaccinated against COVID-19 has died of the virus just one minute apart from each other.
59-year-old Cal Dunham and wife Linda, 66, ‘gained their angel wings’ Sunday despite taking precautions against the virus and being inoculated against it, relatives said.
Cal Dunham updated his Facebook profile picture with a border May 15 to reflect getting his vaccine.
The couple fell ill earlier this month during a family camping trip, the couple’s daughter Sarah Dunham said.
‘[My dad] called me before our family camping trip and said he wasn’t feeling good but he thinks it’s just like sinus, and [Linda] caught it and she’s like, he gave me his cold,’ she told Fox17.
‘The third day they woke me up and said, “We’ve got to go because we don’t feel well.” So I packed them all up and they left.’
The couple was then hospitalized and put on ventilators – both had undisclosed preexisting conditions that made things even worse their daughter said. By this past Sunday, doctors were telling Sarah and the family there wasn’t much more they could do, and the couple would likely need to come off life-support Monday.
After being wheeled into the same room, moments later, Cal passed away at 11:07 a.m.
At 11:08 a.m., less than a minute later, Linda passed away as well as the couple held hands in hospital beds beside one another.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page for the couple’s funeral expenses. To donate, click here.
