One person was taken to a nearby hospital before being released, while three others sustained minor injures after a man drove an SUV through a Freedom Truckers protest on Friday evening.
The Freedom Truckers convoy began on January 23, and grew into a protest of hundreds of thousands of people as it made its way to Canada’s capital in Ottawa on January 29.
The convoy of demonstrators was there to protest COVID-19 mandates and regulations.
Police in Winnipeg said the driver, who was not immediately named, used his Jeep Patriot to plow through the crowd protesting vaccine mandates at the Legislative grounds before fleeing the scene at high speeds.
The driver was eventually caught by police and arrested after a brief struggle, according to authorities.
