
Six people were killed and the gunman reported dead after a shooting at a private Christian school in Nashville on Monday.
The incident began shortly before 10:30 a.m. when law enforcement officials received a call about an active shooter at Covenant School located at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Burton Hills Drive.
In a tweet, the Nashville Police announced, “An active shooter event has taken place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr. The shooter was engaged by MNPD and is dead. Student reunification with parents is at Woodmont Baptist Church.” At present, the identities of the victims and the shooter have not been released by the police.
The school teaches students in grades pre-K through 6th grade and has about 200 students enrolled, according to its website.
