
According to a statement released by Rand Paul, a Senate staffer was brutally stabbed in Northeast over the weekend. On Monday, The Senator issued a statement in regards to the incident.
“This past weekend a member of my staff was brutally attacked in broad daylight in Washington, D.C. I ask you to join Kelley and me in praying for a speedy and complete recovery, and thanking the first responders, hospital staff, and police for their diligent actions,” the statement reads. “We are relieved to hear the suspect has been arrested. At this time we would ask for privacy, so everyone can focus on healing and recovery.”
According to a news release from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), an arrest has been made in connection to an incident that occurred on Saturday at the 1300 block of H Street, Northeast.
Upon responding to a call of a stabbing at the mentioned location, officers found the victim with stab wounds and immediately took them to a nearby medical facility for life-threatening injuries.
The suspect, Glynn Neal, 42, was taken into custody and charged with assault with intent to kill for his involvement in the attack. Federal Bureau of Prisons records indicate that Neal was released from prison on Friday – the day before the stabbing. Neal had previously spent almost 12 years in prison for using threats to coerce two North Carolina women into engaging in prostitution.
