Chapter four of Resident Evil 4 Remake is all about saving Ashley from imprisonment, but to do that, you need to unlock the church. The problem is that the church key is locked behind a contraption and two giant stone hands in the Mural Cave.
Luckily, you have a boat to explore the lake and its cave shrines, where you can find two stone heads that need to be slotted into each hand. But, before you can do that, you have to solve a couple of puzzles. So, here’s how to solve the Resident Evil 4 Remake cave puzzles to get the two stone heads and unlock the church key.
LARGE CAVE SHRINE PUZZLE SOLUTION IN RESIDENT EVIL 4 REMAKE
In the Large Cave Shrine near the Mural Cave, you can find The Apostate’s Head. To get to this location, you’ll need to travel by boat. However, when you reach the area, you’ll come across a locked door with a pedestal outside. This door requires you to press three symbol buttons out of a circle of eight. Here are the buttons you need to press to open the door:
- Top right
- Top left
- Bottom middle
After pressing these buttons, the door will open, and you can collect The Apostate’s Head.
SMALL CAVE SHRINE PUZZLE SOLUTION
To get the Blasphemer’s Head, you need to visit the smaller cave on the other side of the lake, which is home to the second shrine. Similar to the previous cave, this one also requires you to press three out of eight symbol buttons to open the door. Here’s what you need to do:
- Hit the bottom right button
- Hit the bottom left button
- Hit the left button
Once the door opens, you can grab the Blasphemer’s Head. Make sure you also pick up the third Hexagon Piece from the room, which will come in handy for a puzzle later on.
HOW TO GET THE CHURCH KEY INSIGNIA FROM THE MURAL CAVE
With both the Apostate’s Head and the Blasphemer’s Head in your possession, it’s time to make your way back to the Mural Cave. There, you can insert each head onto the hands located on either side of the locked pedestal. Once you do this, the pedestal will unlock, allowing you to obtain the Church Key Insignia. This will enable you to return to the church and continue your search for Ashley.
