The release date for the long-awaited live-action Minecraft movie has been announced by Warner Bros. Pictures. Development for this film based on Mojang’s popular sandbox game began as early as 2014, and fans have eagerly anticipated this news for quite some time.
In 2019, the last update on the movie revealed that Jason Momoa would be part of the cast. However, the film’s development has been anything but smooth sailing. Originally leaked by Minecraft creator Notch, the adaptation has since undergone multiple changes in directors and writers. It was originally planned for a 2019 release but has since been delayed.
Minecraft will now release just barely two years after the just released Super Mario Bros. Movie.
It appears that the Minecraft is now set to release on April 4, 2025. Although some fans may consider the two-year wait for this particular adaptation to be lengthy, it pales in comparison to the time the film has already spent being shuffled around between various production teams and stages of development since its initial “announcement.”
