Malia Obama, the daughter of former US President Barack Obama, is set to make her directorial debut in an upcoming short film produced by Donald Glover’s new production company, Gilga.
This will be one of Gilga’s first projects, and Obama has previously worked with Glover on his Amazon Prime Video series “Swarm”. In the past, she has also had internships on Lena Dunham’s HBO series “Girls” and at the Weinstein Company, and worked as a production assistant on Halle Berry’s CBS sci-fi drama series “Extant”.
Glover has reportedly mentored Obama and offered her advice on her directorial debut, noting that as the daughter of a former president, any missteps could potentially have a lasting impact on her public image.
