Law enforcement reports that a celebration in Alabama resulted in the death of at least four individuals on Saturday night. Initially, over 20 people were reported to have been shot.
Witnesses said the event was a 16th birthday party held at Mahogany Masterpiece Dance Studio located in downtown Dadeville. Investigators informed Nexstar’s WRBL that a suspected altercation led to the shooting at around 10:30 p.m. near the 200 block of Broadnax Street.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. As of now, authorities have not disclosed any information about the suspects or motives.
10 hours after the shooting crime scene tape was still cordoning off the dance studio. The glass front door was covered with a tarp, and white sheets were visible inside the studio, covering the floor. The front sidewalk was cluttered with several yellow police placards.
The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation, Dadeville Police, and Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office, among other law enforcement agencies, responded to the incident and are conducting an investigation.
As of Sunday morning, investigators had not released any official statement. The shooting has left the small town rattled, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact either Dadeville Police or the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office.
