In an audio recording Alex Jones, the boss of Infowars, is heard arguing with his ex-wife, Kelly, using derogatory language and hurling insults at her. The six-minute clip, recorded in November 2009, captures a heated argument initially triggered by a dispute over the whereabouts of an iPhone.
Jones can be heard on the recording referring to Kelly as “trashy” and a liar, while expressing his hatred towards her. He also chastises her for what he perceives as decadent behavior. Despite Kelly’s attempts to seek reconciliation and express forgiveness, Jones continues his tirade, threatening her with unspecified “consequences” and expressing his desire to start a new family.
Kelly, now known as Kelly Nichols, said that she was suffering from pneumonia during the time of the recording. Throughout the audio, she tries to reason with Jones, only to be met with his continued outbursts, demanding that she “stop kicking [him] around.” The couple eventually divorced in March 2015 after a tumultuous six-year marriage. Custody of their three children was settled through a jury trial in 2017.
Despite their respective remarriages, Kelly, now 54 years old, finds herself embroiled in an ongoing legal battle with Jones. She accuses him of failing to pay the court-ordered $2,000-a-month child support and neglecting to contribute to their youngest daughter’s medical expenses. Their 15-year-old daughter currently resides with Kelly.
Jones, 49, has claimed financial hardship following court orders that require him to pay nearly $1.5 billion to parents of children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting. Last year, he filed for bankruptcy, disclosing assets of up to $10 million but liabilities of up to $10 billion.
Kelly describes Jones as “vindictive” and accuses him of filing repeated motions and amendments to keep her entangled in ongoing litigation. As a result, she has been forced to remortgage her home to cover the mounting legal fees.
