Billionaire Democratic donor George Soros has been revealed to be financing a group of Gen-Z TikTokers to advocate for his extreme left-wing agenda, sing praises for President Joe Biden, and criticize conservatives. This information has come to light through a review of public documents and social media content by The Post.
Soros’ Open Society Foundation reportedly provided $5.5 million in funding to the nonprofit organization Accelerate Action Inc. in both 2020 and 2021. Accelerate Action Inc. then funneled at least $300,000 in 2022 to another nonprofit group known as Gen Z for Change. This latter organization boasts a network of 500 individuals described as “activists, organizers, and creators,” according to their tax filings.
The primary mission of these Gen-Z activists, as stated on their website, is to advocate for abolishing border enforcement, defunding law enforcement agencies, and ending cash bail. President Biden’s administration has frequently engaged with Gen Z for Change and other social media influencers to promote his policy agenda. In March 2022, top White House officials even held briefings with them on the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
These interactions between Gen Z for Change and the White House have not gone unnoticed, even becoming the subject of a Saturday Night Live Cold Open sketch. In recognition of their contributions, Gen Z for Change was invited to the White House to witness the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act.
It remains unclear how Gen Z for Change allocates the funds it receives from Soros to its cadre of young influencer activists who often express support for progressive policies such as Medicare for all, the Green New Deal, and Palestinian liberation.
Aidan Kohn-Murphy, the group’s founder, has established partnerships with the White House and Democratic National Committee, according to his speakers bureau. Victoria Hammett, the group’s deputy executive director, frequently addresses women’s issues and reproductive rights on her social media platform. Conor Stayton, a digital marketing strategist for the group, has been critical of certain politicians and policies in his TikTok videos.
Critics have raised concerns about George Soros’ financial support for these Gen Z activists, with some, like Rep. Elise Stefanik, suggesting that Soros is funding far-left activists on a platform that may be influenced by the Chinese Communist Party.
Roughly two-thirds of Accelerate Action’s funding for 2020 and 2021 came from Soros, making it the primary source of financial support for Gen Z for Change among nonprofit organizations.
Despite the significant financial backing from Soros and Accelerate Action, there is limited public information available about the latter organization beyond a minimalistic website that outlines its mission to develop citizen organizing models, particularly in communities of color.
Notably, tax forms for Gen-Z for Change were not publicly available on the IRS website, and Aidan Kohn-Murphy did not respond to requests from The Post for further information. Additionally, there were no responses to requests for comments from Stayton, Hammett, the Open Society Foundation, or Accelerate Action.
George Soros, a 93-year-old billionaire, has a long history of financing left-wing causes globally through his Open Society Foundation, including contributions to soft-on-crime prosecutors like Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in New York City.
