Michael Cohen, former personal lawyer to Donald Trump, has implicated the former president in a fraud scheme during a civil fraud trial. The trial, brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, alleges that Trump, his sons Eric and Don Jr., and Trump Organization executives engaged in a decade-long scheme to inflate Trump’s net worth while lowering his tax burden.
During his testimony, Cohen claimed that Trump was personally involved in the alleged fraud scheme, which included manipulating financial statements and inflating property values. He also alleged that Trump’s CFO, Allen Weisselberg, played a role in manipulating the statements of financial conditions, which are the documents at the center of the civil fraud trial.
Trump has denied all wrongdoing, and his attorneys have argued that his alleged inflated valuations were common business practices.
