F.L. ‘Bubba’ Copeland, a prominent Alabama preacher, mayor, and family man, tragically took his own life on November 3, 2023, just two days after being outed for leading a secret online life as a “transgender curvy girl.”
Copeland, who was the mayor of Smiths Station, Alabama, and the pastor at First Baptist Church in nearby Phenix City, was outed by the conservative news site 1819 News, which described his online alter ego as a transitioning transgender woman under the pseudonym Brittini Blaire Summerlin.
The news site shared screenshots from Copeland’s now-deleted Instagram and Reddit accounts, where he posted pictures and memes as a transgender woman, as well as linked to transgender fiction and erotica that he authored.
Copeland’s suicide came two days after the publication of the 1819 News article.
