Footage shows the horrific moment when Latisha Bell, 38, sprinted up behind her ex Nichelle Thomas, 52, and shot the woman in Park Slope Wednesday afternoon.
The two women had previously been in a relationship but it was not immediately clear why the two broke up. A neighbor said the victim and her ex-girlfriend had a toxic relationship.
Thomas – a mother of two – was rushed to the New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, but died from her injuries, police said
Bell turned herself in to cops at the 78th Precinct with her lawyer present and has been charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police have recovered the firearm used in the shooting.
The woman’s adult daughter said that she was still processing the tragic shooting.
‘I’m confused,’ the daughter said. ‘I don’t know what happened. I can’t talk right now.’
‘She was a very nice lady,’ a neighbor of Thomas, who lives near the scene, said. ‘She didn’t deserve this.’
Another neighbor said the victim and her ex-girlfriend had a toxic relationship.
‘They lived together for years,’ they said. ‘But they were always fighting. They had a big falling out about three years ago and she left.’
