Jonathan Lewis
A tragic incident occurred outside Rancho High School in Las Vegas, where 17-year-old student Jonathan Lewis was brutally beaten by a group of 15 attackers. Sadly, less than two weeks after the attack, Jonathan succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
Jonathan’s father, also named Jonathan Lewis, confirmed his son’s death and shared that the teenager had plans to move to Austin, Texas, to live with him. The grieving father expressed his disappointment in the violent incident, stating that the “children don’t even know what they’re doing half the time”.
According to statements from Jonathan’s father and girlfriend, a group of about 15 individuals had stolen something from his friend and thrown the smaller boy in a trash can. When Jonathan confronted them, he was attacked by the group. The Las Vegas Metro Police Department’s homicide unit is currently investigating the case, and although no arrests have been made so far, the family has been informed that investigators plan to charge several students with murder.
The age of the attackers who beat Jonathan Lewis is not clear.
“He’s a courageous young man,” his family wrote on their fundraising page.
Following the attack, police officers found Jonathan bleeding from the head.
Paramedics rushed to his aid, performing chest compressions on Lewis before transporting him to the hospital.
Jonathan was put on life support at University Medical Center, where he died last Tuesday.
